Wegmans Featured in First Good News Segment

It’s January and even though the weather has been unseasonably warm, we all know it’s winter, and we’re looking for something to cheer us up. Well, this week’s Windsor Park Stories is all about good news, good events, good gardening and good people.

In our first Good News segment we bring our viewers up to date on the good news about one of our most popular grocery stores in northeastern and central Pennsylvania. It has made Fortune Magazine's list of The Best Places To Work In America for the tenth straight year.

You can read more about Wegmans and Good News in the News and Notes Section of the Windsor Park Theater.

In our Scrap Book segment we take a look at one of the best times of the summer. Viewers will go to the Holy Rosary Church bazaar on Park Avenue in Wilkes-Barre where the weather was hot, the food was delicious and the people were happy to be with each other. This was truly a multi-cultural event. Those who came had a good time eating, singing, dancing, playing games and laughing.

In our Garden’s That Work segment, we watch the Christmas tree in the Memorial Water Garden will make its last appearance of the season. Under the watchful eye of Ed Kopec, the white pine is moved to its permanent home. There are a few things gardeners can learn about moving trees and plants at this time of the year.

Yes… There will be a conversation about the warm, unseasonable temperatures we are experiencing and how gardens can be affected.

In our Profile segment, we connect with one of Windsor Park’s dearest friends.

Bob Alles lives in Wilkes-Barre and he is the epitome of the Greatest Generation. We thought it a good idea to go back to the archives of Windsor Park Stories and have a soldier from World War II talk about some of his experiences. There are thousands of men and women today fighting another war and hearing Bob’s words reminds us of the sacrifices these young men and women make in behalf of America.

It’s the perfect show for a cold, damp, dreary day in January when the news in our country and around the world is somber and discouraging. It’s an episode that’s intended to remind us that there are people in every neighborhood…workplace and school building whose words and actions can put a smile on our face and lift our spirits.
