The Garden of Life in Windsor Park is just about finished. Ed Kopec and his crew from Edwards Garden Center did all of the heavy lifting.
Thousands of boulders, rocks and stones weighing hundreds of tons were carefully placed throughout the garden under the watchful eye of Todd Russell. Tons of dirt was added to give the garden its shape, and then there was the landscaping that Ed attended to with great care.
While all this was happening, Kitch and I were searching for someone to engrave the rocks that would record the words people believe speak to life.
Thanks to Google, this journey took us to the temperate redwood rainforests of Sonoma County, California.
There on the Internet we found a company with a very catchy name, Let’s Rock Carved Stone. The website was inviting and very easy to navigate. We liked what we saw. We scribbled the telephone number on a post-it note and then we made the call.
The rest, as they say, is history.
Michael Ann Sackett owns and operates Let’s Rock Carved Stone. She is a client’s dream. Friendly, thoughtful, proactive, and, oh, so respectful of her work, Michael helped us successfully navigate the maze of options available to us.
In our first conversation, she described our project as interesting and unique. She made us feel comfortable and in good hands.
Little did she know that Kitch and I are lifetime students of client service. During our years of working on Wall Street, particularly at JP Morgan before the merger, there was a strong emphasis on client service and excellence in every division of the bank.
Tom Peters was the client service man, and excellence was the name of his game.
The finest college administrator I have ever worked with, Dr. Donald Farmer, admired Tom Peters. He ran his office in a way that would make Peters proud.
I am pleased to tell you that it is almost six weeks since our first conversation with Michael Sackett, and there has never been a bad moment. She knows what makes the difference. She gives the customer more than they expect, and she does it with dignity and class.
She became an essential part of our team. She offered samples of the rocks she would use. She helped with font and color selection. Virtually every day she sent us progress reports. She never complained about additions to the original order. She suggested ways to save money on postage, and she told us more than once how happy she was to be making a contribution to The Garden of Life.
When she learned of my heart surgery, she continued to work on our project with great diligence. She added a personal touch to her correspondence. It gave comfort to Kitch, and it made us feel like we were important to her.
When you come to visit our new garden you will see the work of many people. It is genuinely a collaborative effort. You will also see the largest collection of Michael Sackett’s hand carved rocks outside of California. We are very pleased to tell you that, and we are honored to have a link with Let’s Rock Hand Carved Stones on the Links page of The Windsor Park Theater.
We are very fortunate to be able to include Michael Ann Sackett and Let’s Rock Carved Stone as the newest member of the Windsor Park family. Her knowledge, skill, caring and service added a finishing touch to a place of peace, healing and life in Windsor Park.
Thank you Michael for bringing your magic to our garden and our life.
